Welcome . . .

. . . to the nation's only multi-disciplinary academic program committed to:

  • Educating future generations of railway heritage preservation and tourism leadership.
  • Supporting railway heritage preservation and tourism growth with information, materials and tools.
  • Expanding awareness of the widespread contributions railroads made to North America's history and culture.

Housed in the management program of the Division of Business & Entrepreneurship at Davis & Elkins College, the Center offers a unique undergraduate minor open to students of all disciplines, plus programming on art, literature and music; heritage preservation, interpretation and presentation; community economic and tourism growth and more. You can get an idea of some of these activities by exploring other pages here. But check back from time to time as this site is undergoing a revision to reflect some of the changes in our mission.

Better yet, contact Center Director Jim Porterfield at or by calling 814-574-5586.
