Bachelor of Science in Management

The bachelor’s degree in management requires 57 credit hours, including 12 hours of specified management courses plus core requirements (45 hours), which includes courses in accounting, business, economics, finance, math, and marketing.

Minors

Nonprofit Management Minor

The requirements for a minor in nonprofit management consist of 18 hours of specified courses in management, marketing, and business, and a 3-hour elective from a list including courses in accounting, English, management, and marketing.

Concentration

Entrepreneurship

Management majors may also choose to pursue a concentration in entrepreneurship. The concentration consists of the same courses required for the Bachelor of Science in Management, plus 9 additional semester hours of courses related to entrepreneurship.

The Entrepreneurship Concentration is designed to provide the tools needed for the successful startup and management of your own company. You’ll learn to write an effective business plan, including determining target markets, market share, sales forecasting, and construction of pro-forma accounting statements. Social entrepreneurship and its impact on society are also covered in the curriculum.

Internship Opportunities

Internships provide opportunities for students to apply knowledge gained in the classroom while making meaningful contributions to the organization for which they work. Students can complete internships during any semester, though most take place over the summer and last about 10 weeks. With guidance from the Director of Career Services & Student Employment, students develop an internship proposal and gain hands-on experience in their field. Internships also include a reflective journal, a final paper, and relevant research.

Independent Study

Independent Study in Management allows students to explore topics that are not part of the regular curriculum. Independent study requires students to work closely with a management faculty member.
