The exercise science program at Davis & Elkins College provides you with a working knowledge of the physiology of exercise and exercise testing and prescription. In addition to coursework in wellness, kinesiology, research methods, human anatomy and much more, you are required to complete either an academic minor other than athletic training, an emphasis in athletic training or completion of the pre-professional specialization in pre-physical therapy.

As a student studying exercise science you'll complete an internship under professional supervision. Our strong alumni network and faculty connections will provide you with opportunities to engage with leaders in the industry.
Upon graduation, you'll be prepared for a career in public and privately owned wellness and fitness centers, corporate fitness facilities and clinical therapeutic programs including cardiac and stroke rehabilitation centers.
Other career opportunities include: personal trainer, strength and conditioning specialist, personal training instructor, geriatric fitness instructor, weight-control counselor, exercise test technologist and community health worker. Students studying exercise science at D&E have a very high placement rate for graduate school as they are well prepared to continue their education through an excellent academic foundation.
