Alumni Groups

There are many ways to stay connected with Davis & Elkins College.

Participating in an alumni group is fun and friendly! Here’s how you can get involved…

Alumni Chapters

Alumni Chapters are D&E alumni who live in the same area and want to get together to build off the D&E bond they have. Chapters have held several different kinds of events ranging from lunch cruises to sporting events to picnics. If there is not a chapter in your area, please contact Wendy Morgan in the Alumni Office at (304) 637-1341 or email to learn about starting one.

Alumni Chapters

California Chapter
So far away from campus, yet so close to each other…D&E alumni in the Bay Area of California are taking advantage of opportunities to reconnect and make new friendships.

Carolinas  Chapter
There are more than 350 D&E alumni and friends that live in North and South Carolina. The Carolinas Alumni Chapter held its inaugural event in July 2011. The intent of the Carolinas Chapter is to host annual or semi-annual social events that will create the opportunity for participants to meet and renew acquaintances, hear about what is going on at the College and have fun. Events will be held in different locations throughout both states; we hope you will be able to join us when we’re in your area.

Delaware Chapter
D&E alumni in Delaware and the greater Philadelphia area have had several alumni gatherings. Check out the alumni events page for one near you.

Florida Chapter
2013 saw the organization of two key areas in Florida – the Suncoast Alumni Chapter, covering the west coast from St. Petersburg to Naples, and the Orlando Area Alumni Chapter. Whether you are a year ‘round resident or a snowbird, we look forward to seeing you at the next alumni gathering in your area. For more information, please contact Wendy Morgan, 12.

Maryland Chapter
The Maryland Alumni Chapter held its inaugural event in June 2011. The Maryland Chapter hopes to have annual or semi-annual events held in different locations around Maryland in order to reach the 1,000+ alumni and friends in that area. These events will provide the opportunity to create and renew friendships. We hope you’ll be able to join us.

New York Metro Area Chapter
The D&E New York Metro Area Alumni Chapter consists of almost 900 alumni living in New Jersey, New York and Connecticut and has been active since September 2006. The Chapter organizes a variety of events for alumni and friends each year throughout the tri-state area. Just a few of the past events have included a tour of Rockefeller Center, picnic at Lynn Deming Park in Conn., and Trenton Thunder baseball games. We would love to have you join us at one of our future affairs.

Ohio Chapter
The inaugural event for the Ohio Regional Alumni Chapter was held in May 2012. The group plans to hold a variety of regional events in different areas of Ohio. We hope you are able to join us when we are in your area.

Virginia Chapter
During Homecoming 2009, members voted to officially form the Virginia Alumni Chapter and adopted formal bylaws, elected officers, and registered our first members. Since then, the Chapter has increased its membership and continues to have events in different regions of Virginia.

Western Pennsylvania/Tri-State Chapter
The Western Pennsylvania Alumni Chapter is in a wonderful position to provide a wide array of opportunities for D&E alumni in the tri-state areas of central Ohio, northern W.Va. and western Pa. In the past this alumni chapter has hosted events like an outing with the Washington Wild Things in Washington, Pa. We look forward to seeing you in our area. For more information, please contact Wendy Morgan, ’12.

West Virginia Alumni Chapter
Right here in our own backyard we have over 2,500 alumni in W.Va. West Virginia D&E alumni have multiple opportunities to interact both on campus and off. We look forward to seeing you when we are in your area and hope you are able to visit campus soon. For more information about upcoming events or to help plan a gathering, please contact the D&E Alumni Office.

National Alumni Council

The alumni and friends of Davis & Elkins College are one of its proudest assets. They are leaders who set the example that today’s students can eagerly follow.

NAC is the voice/governing body of alumni. Everyone who has graduated from D&E, or even just attended, is a member of the alumni association. The NAC’s mission is simple. This is how it is stated in their by-laws: “The purpose of this organization shall be to engage alumni of Davis & Elkins College for the purpose of developing an active program of alumni support for the mission of the College as established by the President and Board of Trustees.”

The National Alumni Council or the Council is the voice of the Davis & Elkins College Alumni Association. Everyone who has graduated from D&E or even just attended is a member of the Alumni Association.

The Council’s mission is simple. “The purpose of this organization shall be to engage alumni of Davis & Elkins College (the College) for the purpose of developing an active program of alumni support for the mission of the College as established by the President and Board of Trustees.”

Support is a very general term and can be interpreted several different ways. One way alumni support the College is by attending one of the many events hosted by the College, either on or off campus. Other ways are by volunteering to help organize one of these events, to write letters to classmates as a class representative or reunion coordinator, or by giving financially. There are many ways alumni can get involved.

The Council consists of members currently representing class years ranging from 1977 to 2017. They hail from 13 different states, and represent a variety of majors and affiliations. This diversity helps make for a well rounded council.

The Council meets twice a year on campus, during Homecoming Weekend in October and in the spring, usually in March or April. A typical meeting begins with the committee gathering. The council has three committees: Development, Regional Alumni Events and Student and Young Alumni. After the committees have met, the full council assembles for committee reports and discussions.

The Council has done many things to benefit the College, one of which was to begin an endowed scholarship that benefits students who are related to a D&E alumnus/a.

If you are interested in learning more about the National Alumni Council, please contact Director of Alumni Engagement and Support Wendy Morgan at 304-637-1341 or via email.
