Whether you’re interested in lodging, food and beverage, event planning, casino management or any of the many other areas of the hospitality industry, Davis & Elkins College will prepare you for a successful career in this exciting industry. D&E provides you with two degree options – a Bachelor of Arts and an Associate in Arts. Both programs provide you with management principles, an understanding of the business and practical experience, but the bachelor’s degree program is more in depth.

Energetic and engaging faculty will teach you the time management skills and work ethic needed for this demanding, but rewarding, field. With encouragement and one-on-one interaction with your professors, you’ll be inspired to think outside of the box to deliver an unforgettable experience.

Opportunities

Travel and tourism is one of the fastest growing industries around the globe, providing millions of job opportunities in amazing locations. Through internships, independent study and even on campus employment, you’ll be ready to take on the world.

Whether you choose to earn an associate’s or bachelor’s degree, you will be required to complete an internship. In addition to providing you with the opportunity to apply the knowledge you gained in the classroom, you’ll get hands-on experience that will help prepare you for success in the industry by making a meaningful contribution to your internship organization. You may complete your internship at the organization of your choosing during any semester or the summer. Students have completed internships at The Greenbrier, Hershey Park, Disney World and many other destinations.

Want to study an area in more depth? Throughout your coursework, you’ll have the opportunity to select a topic that’s not part of the regular curriculum for independent study. Ready to get to work now? Student work-study positions are available on campus to gain experience in event planning, catering services, lodging and restaurant operations through D&E’s Hospitality Services and unique Graceland Inn and Restaurant. Even if you don’t have a campus job, there are opportunities to gain experience through student organizations such as the Hospitality Club and Campus Activities Board.
