Elkins, WV – On Monday, May 14, D&E college held a special academic hooding and graduation ceremony for seniors: Jack Coleman, Mathematics from Milton Keynes, England; Honesty Holt, Sport Management from Bentonville, Arkansas; Jordan Hyland, Accounting from Omagh, Northern Ireland; and Kailynn Parks, Elementary Education from Bessett, Virginia.

The college has always strived to ensure its students not only receive a top-rated education but that they also felt cared for by the campus community; that, they were seen as more than just a number to D&E faculty and staff.

“Davis & Elkins College cares about our students as individuals,” said D&E President Chris A.  Wood. “When four students could not attend the College’s Commencement, we decided it was the right thing to do to hold a second commencement because that is what we do at D&E. We are proud of all our students and these four deserved the same celebration their classmates experienced.”

The student athletes had been unable to attend the weekend’s events due to participation in NCAA post season tournaments. The college administration worked to provide the seniors with a similar experience as their peers had received on Saturday. Family members, faculty, staff, and students attended the abbreviated service in support of the student athletes. The students received their academic hoods prior to President Wood addressing the group and presenting them with their diplomas.
