Davis & Elkins College welcomes LaTishia Wilson to campus as an instructor of education. Wilson brings along a decade and a half of direct and field-adjacent experience in teaching and leadership roles.
Wilson earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Virginia in 2002. Following a several-year career with State Farm Insurance, she would transition to roles in special education and intervention specialization before pursuing her postsecondary degrees. Wilson earned her Master of Arts in Special Education in 2010 and her Education Specialist degree from Regent University in 2012.
“I am very excited to join the D&E family as a member of the Education Department,” says Wilson. “I look forward to working with all of the brilliant students and staff at the College.
Wilson has spent her career in roles of leadership, serving as special education teacher, assistant principal, principal, instructional specialist, and director of strategy and programs within schools along the east coast. In that time, she has also served as both a Life Coach and volunteer and supporting Head Coach of Regent University Women’s Basketball, earning her Career Coach Certification in 2022. Wilson’s wealth of certificates, licenses, and involvement with her community further bolster her impressive career accomplishments.
“We are very excited to welcome Professor Tishia Wilson to the faculty at D&E,” says Interim Vice President of Academic Affairs, Brian Moudry. “She brings a wealth of experience in educational leadership and development, and we are very pleased that she is joining our Education Department as we prepare to mentor the next generation of teachers in West Virginia.”
Wilson’s husband, Brian, is also a member of the D&E community, operating under the position of associate dean of students since June of this year. Together, they have three children: twin daughters, Brianna and LeTia, and one son, Brice. Brianna and LeTia currently attend graduate school at the University of Virginia in the School of Education, while Brice is a recent graduate of Hampden Sydney College and is working as a College and Career Advisor at Louisa County High School in Virginia. The Wilsons also enjoy spending time with their dog, Colbie.
