The student organization GreenWorks! and the Environmental Stewardship class students are seeking nominations for the biggest trees on the Davis & Elkins College campus. The effort is part of a project in conjunction with the Elkins Tree Board to celebrate Earth Day on April 22.

The size of the trees is based on the Arbor Day Foundation guidelines for height, crown spread and circumference. Members of the campus community can submit their nominations through a Google form link https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScj72scQVh3XQ2w6Gj0UjpQ54kP-5dEucWfWnZ3ocfqzVrMuQ/viewform?vc=0&c=0&w=1&flr=0&usp=mail_form_link. To determine the GPS point, Associate Professor of Biology and Environmental Science Dr. Crystal Krause recommends using the apps My Location – GPS Coordinates or GPS Coordinates.

Students will measure the trees Monday and Tuesday and the biggest tree will be announced at the Earth Day event at Elkins City Park in the evening on April 22. GreenWorks! is offering two $25 gift cards for the nominations of the two biggest trees on campus.
