Tina Vial serves as the College’s assistant director of development support and coordinator of church relations. She is responsible for building relationships between Davis & Elkins College and church-related governing bodies, congregations and individuals. She also serves as a grant writer and conducts prospect research.

Experience

Tina has nearly 30 years of experience in staff and volunteer leadership within the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), including serving on the denomination’s national staff in the Christian Education and Leadership Development office for 15 years. Among the numerous leadership roles she filled at the presbytery level were vice moderator of Presbytery Council and co-chair of the Presbytery of West Virginia Mission Study Group that directed a two-year process of mission visioning, restructuring and priority budgeting for the Presbytery.

Prior to coming to D&E, her work in grant writing had yielded nearly $9.5 million from several sources including the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), private foundations and state and federal agencies to fund a variety of non-profit programs such as business development, children’s services, in-home care, home ownership, low-income rental housing, domestic violence and homeless shelters, and a variety of family services; college scholarships and historic preservation efforts; and the State of West Virginia Weatherization Program. In addition, she administered the West Virginia American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) Higher Education and State Fiscal Stabilization funds totaling $194 million, and reviewed all requests for the governor’s discretionary ARRA funds – over $48 million – for eligibility and to ensure the projects met the governor’s funding preferences.

Tina has attended numerous workshops and seminars on grant writing and administration, marketing, public relations, website design, sales, business, project management, human resources, customer service, team leadership, weatherization, various specialized aspects of dog training, real estate and computer software.

Tina owns Pups & Pals Dog Training which uses force-free training methods and focuses on families and their pets. She has attended the Animal Behavior College in California and is a Certified Behavior Assessor through the PetSmart Charities’ Rescue Waggin’ Program. She is also an independent consultant for The Pampered Chef with career sales exceeding $900,000. She has coached more than 75 other consultants in 21 years.
