Davis & Elkins College alumna Sondra “Jeanie” Pingley has been appointed office and testing manager for The Naylor Learning Center at D&E. A retired special educator, Pingley will begin her duties at the start of the 2021-2022 academic year.
In her new position, Pingley will provide assistance and guidance to students seeking support from The Naylor Learning Center. She also will be responsible for campus proctored exams and scheduling tutoring and writing support, among other duties.
“Jeanie is a proud alumna of D&E with an extensive history of coordinating and administering standardized testing,” said The Naylor Learning Center Interim Director Derek Fincham. “She is dedicated to student success and is an outstanding addition to our Naylor Learning Center team.”
Pingley brings more than 25 years of experience working in the special education field in the local Randolph County School system. She has worked as an itinerant gifted teacher throughout Randolph County Schools, a fourth-grade teacher at George Ward Elementary School, a sixth-grade English language arts teacher at Elkins Middle School, a substitute teacher and work-based learning coordinator. Her work as an educator was recognized with the 2012 Teacher of the Year Award from Midland Elementary and A Great Teacher award from the 2008 West Virginia Governor’s Honor Academy.
“I welcome the opportunity to return to Davis & Elkins College as the office and testing manager for the Naylor Learning Center,” Pingley said. “I am looking forward to returning to my alma mater to help students reach their full potential.”
In addition to her Bachelor of Arts degree in education from Davis & Elkins College, Pingley also holds a Master of Arts degree in curriculum and instruction from Salem Teikyo University and a specialization in gifted education from West Virginia University. She is a Youth Health Service board member and teacher consultant for National Geographic, as well as past president of the Randolph County Education Association and past faculty senate president of Midland Elementary.
