Lucas Myford of Fleetwood, Pennsylvania, has been awarded a $5,000 per year scholarship for a total of $20,000 over four years to Davis & Elkins College after participating in Senator Leadership & Scholarship Day in March. Myford, a student at Oley Valley High School, was selected from a group of the 62 highest achieving high school seniors who are among hundreds of students accepted to attend D&E this fall.

Myford is the son of Zachary and Mary Beth Myford of Fleetwood, Pennsylvania. At Oley Valley High School, Myford is a member of Future Business Leaders of America and Law Explorers and assists with the TV station. He was selected for the National Student Leadership Conference. In addition, he is a member of the baseball and basketball teams.

At Davis & Elkins College, Myford plans to major in criminology.

To be eligible to compete for a Leadership Scholarship, students must have at least a 3.0 GPA. Students were also required to submit a list of outstanding leadership honors or awards they have received and describe three skills that have strengthened them as a leader. Students vying for the scholarships participated in interviews and submitted an essay of no more than 500 words consisting of a personal statement outlining their interests, life experiences, goals and commitment to leadership.
