Sara Gerot has been appointed testing and office manager for The Naylor Learning Center at Davis & Elkins College. A veteran higher education professional, her duties began at the start of the spring 2023 semester.

In her new position, Gerot provides assistance and guidance to students seeking support from The Naylor Learning Center. She also is responsible for campus proctored exams and scheduling tutoring and writing support, among other duties.

“Sara, has a history of supporting college student learning and student support,” said The Naylor Learning Center Director Derek Fincham. “She is an outstanding addition to our Naylor Learning Center team and is already making strong connections with the D&E students.”

Gerot brings more than 10 years of experience working in the higher education field, teaching courses in English and critical reasoning for institutions such as William Penn University, Indian Hills Community College, D&E and the Glenville program at Huttonsville Correctional Center, among various others.

“I welcome the opportunity to become a part of the D&E community, assisting staff and students alike,” Gerot said. “I look forward to getting to know more D&E students in a new capacity.”

In addition to her Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Iowa, Gerot holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in critical studies from California Institute of Arts. She is currently pursuing a certification in stenography from Hardman School of Court Reporting. She is also a regular attendee of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church. Her publications have appeared in “The Rumpus,” “Make/Shift Feminisms in Motion” and “HRML Giant,” among others.
