Davis & Elkins College Professor of English Dr. Bill King is among writers and artists published in the current issue of About Place Journal who will present their works in a Zoom poetry reading at 7 p.m. Friday, January 15. The free event can be accessed at https://us02web.zoom.ux/j/88340797805.

The reading series, titled “Works of Resistance, Resilience,” is comprised of poetry, fiction, nonfiction and visual art. In this age of collective anxiety, the writers and artists from around the world attempt to answer what it means to live and survive during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.

King will read two poems – “Critical Distance” that explores resistance to racial injustice and “Poem for My Night Nurse” to exemplify resilience in the face of illness.

The event will last approximately 75 minutes and includes time for a question-and-answer session.

About Place Journal is a literary journal published by the Black Earth Institute and dedicated to re-forging the links between art and spirit, earth and society.
