New members of the Delta Epsilon Chapter of Delta Alpha Pi International Honor Society were recently inducted during a ceremony at Davis & Elkins College. The honor society recognizes students with disabilities for their academic achievements.
“Our students work very hard and their accomplishments are great,” said Director of The Naylor Learning Center Mary Ellen Schubert. “The purpose of the Delta Alpha Pi International Honor Society is to present an opportunity to change the negative stereotyping associated with disability. In the last two years, our students achieved the honors of valedictorian and salutatorian. I am very proud of them.”
Earning the distinction were Ben Aschman of Alexandria, Virginia; Laylin Brown of Elkins; Max Ginsberg of Fairfax, Virginia; Cheyenna Liddell-Jones of San Jose, California; Chapter Vice President Gabi Reynolds of Charleston; and Jackson Wright of Buena Vista, Virginia.
In addition to academic recognition, the honor society facilitates development of skills in leadership, advocacy and education.
Delta Alpha Pi International Honor Society was founded in 2004 at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania and is open to undergraduate and graduate students with disabilities. The local chapter, formed in 2015, is the 101st in 32 states.
