Three Davis & Elkins College teacher education majors attended the 65th annual West Virginia Reading Association’s Reading Conference at The Greenbrier. Instructor of Education Danielle Riggins accompanied, from left, Beth Butcher an elementary education major from Beverly; Haleigh Forand, a mathematics education and special education major from Fairfax, Virginia; and Ava Holt, an elementary education and special education major from Valley Bend. Titled “Back to Our Roots: Fill the Mountains with Literacy,” the conference offered students opportunities to hear from keynote speakers and attend concurrent sessions on topics of their choice. They also attended an Author Luncheon where West Virginia author Anna Smucker spoke to the audience about the triumphs and trials of being an author.
