Elkins – The financial news company 24/7 Wall St. has ranked Davis & Elkins College as the most selective school for student admissions in West Virginia. Only one college or university was ranked per state.

In its report “The Hardest College to Get Into in Every State,” 24/7 Wall St. reviewed admission data and SAT scores from the National Center for Education Statistics of the U.S. Department of Education for the 2018-2019 academic year. Information was considered predominantly for bachelor’s degree-granting colleges and universities with at least 1,000 applicants.

“We are honored to be recognized as ‘leading the way’ when it comes to selectivity,” said Vice President for Enrollment Management and Institutional Advancement Dr. Rosemary Thomas. “Make no mistake, we pride ourselves on being accessible to a multifaceted diverse group of students, but as we build our classes we strive to identify emerging leaders with the will and tenacity to be successful in our highly personalized learning environment. Test scores and high school grades are but two indicators of success. We seek out students who want to challenge themselves and take responsibility for shaping their own future.”

Davis & Elkins College’s acceptance rate for 2018-2019 was 37%. The acceptance rate for other colleges and universities listed in the report range from 4.7% to 96%.

Davis & Elkins puts an emphasis on the success of each student from the point of admission to degree completion. Programs are in place for academic, emotional, cultural and physical support.
