Davis & Elkins College now holds pre-accreditation status for the four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. The National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation granted the status following a thorough and rigorous application review.
The action is based on evidence that the program will be able to demonstrate full compliance with Standards of Accreditation. The College has three years to complete the process.
“Davis & Elkins College has 40-plus years of successful nursing education, and our new BSN program’s accreditation status is almost one year ahead of our original accreditation schedule,” said Dr. Huixin Wu, chair of the Division of Nursing and director of the BSN programs. “We applied for dual accreditation from two prestigious national accreditation organizations – NLN CNEA and Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing – to prove that we are providing a quality nursing education. Our ultimate goal is to get the new four-year BSN program fully accredited before spring 2023.”
The Davis & Elkins four-year Bachelor of Science program in nursing launched in fall 2019 after the West Virginia Board of Examiners for Registered Professional Nurses granted approval to add an additional program to the Division of Nursing.
“The process of accreditation is time-consuming and challenging,” said Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Rob Phillips. “Achieving pre-accreditation is an important accomplishment for the department and the program and is a clear sign of the commitment and dedication of Dr. WU and the entire nursing faculty.”
The College also offers an Associate of Science in nursing program and an online RN to BSN degree completion program.
