The generosity of the Davis & Elkins College community, alumni, parents and friends helped lift the College well above the goal set for Giving Tuesday. After meeting a $30,000 match challenge issued by a member of the Board of Trustees, the campaign topped off above $200,000.
Gifts were received from throughout the region and the nation. Many were accompanied with notes sharing thoughts on the importance of the College to the community and the desire for current and future students to gain the transformative educational experience at D&E.
“Davis & Elkins is truly blessed to be among such a generous and caring college community,” said alumnus and Board of Trustees Chair Mark Barber ’75. “On Giving Tuesday all of the social distancing and separation gave way to a virtual crowd of giving. We are enormously grateful to our alumni and friends, to the community and to our Trustees for stepping up to meet and far exceeding the giving challenge.”
Created in 2012 as a day that encouraged philanthropy, Giving Tuesday is now a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate and celebrate generosity.
