Cori Coffman has returned to her alma mater Davis & Elkins College following an appointment to the position of assistant dean of students. The 2020 D&E graduate and Buckhannon native began her duties in late November.

In this capacity, Coffman will develop and maintain programs to enhance students’ learning environment through involvement in co-curricular and extra-curricular programming and leadership development, as well as manage comprehensive resident life programming. As a member of the Student Affairs Leadership Team, she will work directly with Dean of Students Kate Garlick to implement policies and procedures.

“The Office of Student Life has gained a fantastic addition to our team,” Garlick said. “Cori’s experience as a student at D&E will no doubt guide her new role. Her energy and enthusiasm for campus and residence life will help us continue leading the way.”

Coffman brings experience in event planning and student programming. Most recently, she served as event experience manager at Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas. Prior to that, she was a graduate assistant in residence life and student programming at West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon where she oversaw student employees, managed critical incidents and organized student events.

“As a student, D&E always felt like home, so I am thrilled to rejoin the family as the assistant dean of students,” Coffman said. “This campus is filled with natural beauty and inspiring students and staff. I am looking forward to working alongside Kate and the rest of the team.”

While attending D&E, Coffman was a member of the hospitality club and received the 2019-2020 Business & Entrepreneurship Award.

In addition to her Bachelor of Arts degree in hospitality and tourism management from D&E, Coffman earned a Master of Business Administration from West Virginia Wesleyan College in 2022.
