Davis & Elkins College welcomes James “Jim” Butler as the new Director of Dining Services. Butler brings a wealth of experience in the food service industry with him.

Butler was born in a small town near Madison, Wisconsin and began cooking in his family’s drive-in restaurant during elementary school. While majoring in History at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and early in his professional career, he gained further experience working in campus dining services, traditional restaurants, and country clubs.

Butler then relocated to Western Pennsylvania where he worked in the resort and hotel industry. His work in campus dining services began at Frostburg State University in Maryland and continued at prep schools and universities along the East Coast before accepting the title of Director of Dining Services at D&E.

Diana White, Vice President for Business and Administration, shared, “We are very excited to have someone with Jim’s vast experience become a member of the Davis & Elkins College team. Jim will oversee Dining Services for our students as well as catering options for community events both on and off campus. We look forward to Jim enhancing the dining experience for our students.”

Butler has three adult children who reside in Washington, D.C. and Los Angeles, California.
