Located inside the Eschleman Science Center, the Flynn Planetarium offers students, faculty, staff, and the greater community an immersive journey through the wonders of the universe. With upgraded digital projection and a state-of-the-art 3D sound system, visitors enjoy breathtaking views of the cosmos and IMAX-style science films that bring space exploration to life.
A Unique Learning Experience
Every show begins with a guided tour of the night sky, featuring constellations, planets, nebulae, and distant galaxies. Using images from the Hubble Space Telescope and the cutting-edge James Webb Space Telescope, the planetarium brings astronomical discoveries right to your seat.
Following the star tour, audiences enjoy a full-dome science film, projected in stunning digital quality with immersive 3D sound for an unforgettable educational experience.
Public Shows & Special Events
The Flynn Planetarium hosts monthly public showings, open to everyone on campus and throughout the local community. These events provide an opportunity to discover the night sky, explore galaxies, and enjoy engaging full-dome science films.
In addition to regular programming, shows can also be scheduled upon request for schools, youth groups, and organizations. Past visitors have included:
- Randolph and Tucker County Schools (field trips and summer programs)
- YMCA programs
- Upward Bound summer programs
- Private schools, family reunions, and festival groups, including the Augusta Festival
Student Life at the Planetarium
Beyond public and educational programs, the Flynn Planetarium also plays a role in campus life. Each month, Student Government sponsors a student movie night, offering a fun and engaging way for Senators to gather under the dome.
