Dr. Carter serves on numerous committees at the College, including the Executive committee, Appointment, Promotion, and Tenure committee, and the Chair of the Professional Affairs Committee, as well as serving three consecutive one-year terms as Chair of the Faculty Assembly. Dr. Carter has been an active member of the strategic planning committee for the College and has been a member of the President’s Leadership Council. She has worked with many non-profit groups in the Elkins community including serving as a board member of Woodlands Community Lenders, past President of Elkins Main Street, and as past President and current Commissioner of the Elkins Historic Landmarks Commission. She is also a member of the West Virginia Academic Business Program Leaders Group, consisting of all Business Deans and Chairs from both public and private universities and colleges across the state. She serves as a consultant, providing technical assistance for start-ups and small businesses in areas of writing business plans and strategic planning.
Accomplishments:
Dr. Carter has received numerous honors and awards, including the Tiger Athletic Foundation Undergraduate Teaching Award, a peer-nominated and elected award at LSU; Entrepreneurship 101 Award for Outstanding Leadership in the Field of Business Creativity and Entrepreneurship by the Consortium for Entrepreneurship Education; and Excellence in Entrepreneurship from Syracuse University. She earlier served on the Board of the Governor’s Conference for Economic Development for Louisiana Governor Mike Foster and Governor Kathleen Blanco.
