Make Scholarships Available
Each year, Davis & Elkins College awards over $14.3 million in institutional aid. Most of this support comes in the form of scholarships that recognize our students’ impressive achievements. When you contribute to a scholarship fund, you make it financially feasible for students to attend D&E.

General Scholarship Fund
Students come first at Davis & Elkins, and helping them afford tuition and room and board is a top priority. Approximately 98% of D&E students receive some form of financial assistance. This aid represents the greatest need and makes up the greatest percentage of the college’s annual budget. Your gift helps ensure we have the necessary resources to recruit and retain worthy students who will become tomorrow’s leaders.
Endowed Scholarships
More than 180 endowed scholarships have been created and funded by alumni and friends of the college. Endowed scholarships require a minimum gift amount of $25,000 that can be paid over a specified period of time or through a bequest. The funds are invested as part of the Davis & Elkins College Endowment Fund, and a percentage of the interest is withdrawn each year and awarded to students who meet the required criteria as determined by the donor(s). For more information on establishing an endowed scholarship, please contact Scott Goddard, Vice President for Institutional Advancement by email or phone 304-637-1352.
Highlands Scholar Program
The Davis & Elkins College Highlands Scholar Program is a life-changing offering that provides a significant tuition discount to students graduating from a West Virginia high school. The amount of the scholarship is dependent upon each student’s high school GPA and the county in which they live. There is also consideration for those who choose to live at home versus on campus.
Gifts in support of the Highlands Scholar Program help keep tuition costs in line with state-funded institutions. As a result, West Virginia students can experience a transformational liberal arts education that provides unlimited potential, professionally and personally.
Legacy Scholarships
We are proud of the multi-generational alumni who are part of the D&E family. Children/stepchildren and grandchildren/step-grandchildren of Davis & Elkins College alumni are eligible for the Legacy Scholarship, which helps bring a D&E education within reach for generations of families.
Enable Academic Success
Our faculty are committed to creating a different kind of classroom.”
– Chris Wood, President, Davis & Elkins College
When many students and alumni describe their D&E liberal arts education, they mention their close-knit relationships with individual faculty members. Our faculty are committed to creating a different kind of classroom — one where experiential learning and real-world experiences interact with traditional lectures and academic research.
Your gift in support of Academic Success will secure up-to-date equipment, classroom supplies, updated technology, and much more that is necessary for our students to succeed in an ever-changing workplace.

Empower The Arts
D&E has a long tradition of quality arts programs and facilities, including the beautiful Myles Center for the Arts, which serves as the creative center for the campus as well as the greater Elkins community. Encouraged by faculty, students are inspired to explore their innermost creativity and passion for the arts. Your gift in support of the arts provides students with materials needed to create works of art in all mediums, theatrical and film productions, and musical performances.
Senator Nation Athletics
Student athletes balance academics with practice, travel, and competition. Along the way, they learn self-discipline, organization, and prioritization. Combine those important life lessons with coaches who are mentors, and teammates who become lifetime friends, and it’s no wonder that athletics has always played a major part in Davis & Elkins College’s culture.
The Senator Nation Endowment helps fund facility upgrades, team travel, and other priorities for athletics. Gifts for this fund are invested as part of the Davis & Elkins College Endowment fund. The Athletic Director, along with a committee of alumni volunteers, determines the priorities and most urgent needs.

Gifts to general athletics or specific teams not only helps support travel and equipment, it also conveys to the athletes that their hard work and sacrifice is recognized.
Make a Difference Through Special Projects
There are always special projects that need your support each year, and gifts that support these projects are always appreciated. From residence hall upgrades to student travel to Rise Against Hunger, there are many ways your gifts make a difference and help the college fulfill its mission.
