WDTV - Some students in Randolph County had the chance to learn more about the arts and the earth, in hands-on fashion this week.

Tygarts Valley Middle and High schools students were at Fox Forest in Elkins, to experience science, technology, engineering arts and math through hands-on science activities, journaling and even art expression.

The students had the chance to work with many experts including professors from Davis & Elkins College and local artists during the unique experience.

The "Arts and the Earth" field trip was made possible through a partnership between ArtsBank and the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources. Funding came from the Clay Center, the Benedum Foundation and Chevron.

The learning will extend past the field trip days as the experts and instructors will visit the school multiple times throughout this year.
