WBOY - For 44 years the Augusta Heritage Center of Davis & Elkins College has offered classes in music, dance, and art from many traditions and genres.
The summer is filled with themed weeks including Cajun and Creole, classic country, blues and swing, bluegrass, and much more. The goal is to educate and encourage artistic expression found in traditional folk cultures.
“Part of the mission over our many years has been to document and preserve the traditions and culture of our area,” said Beth King, the Augusta Heritage Center director. “For the local community, we bring a lot of folks to Elkins who stay for the whole week. So, they are participating in the classes and enjoying being part of the Elkins community.”
Classes begin on July 9 with Cajun and Creole week and Folk Art for Kids.
