ELKINS – Students at Coalton Elementary School get a close-up look at a woolly rhinoceros skull from The Stirrup Gallery at Davis & Elkins College. The skeleton mold was one of many items D&E Curator of Special Collections Mark Lanham brought to the school as part of his traveling exhibit on Ice Age mammals. The skull is part of a 6-foot-by13-foot skeleton cast of a woolly rhinoceros on loan to The Stirrup Gallery from Prehistoric Planet LLC in Barrackville. Located in Myles Center for the Arts on the Davis & Elkins College campus, The Stirrup Gallery houses more than 10,000 artifacts spanning more than 100,000 years of history. For more information, call Lanham at 304-637-1980.
