ELKINS – The Randolph County Commission has selected Davis & Elkins College senior Tiffany Hinzman as its first accounting intern. The newly created, non-compensated position will provide Hinzman with real world experience in processes associated with a government entity.

Under the supervision and mentorship of D&E Assistant Professor of Accounting Lisa Daniels-Smith, Hinzman will assist with the collection of past due fire fees.

“She will be able to observe accounts receivable and work with customers to establish payment plans,” said Daniels-Smith, who also serves as an accounting consultant to the County Commission.

Hinzman was selected for the internship from a field of candidates interviewed by all three members of the County Commission.

“We were impressed with all the candidates, but Tiffany Hinzman really stood out in her interview,” said Randolph County Commission President Mark Scott. “We looking forward to having her work with us.”

An accounting major from Warrenton, Virginia, Hinzman recently returned to D&E after earning a degree in recreational management and tourism in 2003.

“I am grateful to be selected for this internship and look forward to gaining more experience and knowledge in a professional capacity,” Hinzman said.
