ELKINS - Amy Kittle, Title IX coordinator at Davis & Elkins College, recently attended the Association of Title IX Administrators (ATIXA) professional training conference and earned a higher caliber certification.
Through the comprehensive and interactive training, Kittle attained 504 Coordinator Certification and Level III Title IX Coordinator Certification. The 504 Coordinator training provided an overview of disability laws and guidelines regarding accommodations. The Level III sessions focused on the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act and emphasized practical skills through case study and scenario discussions.
In addition to her recent certifications, Kittle also is an ATIXA Level II Certified Civil Rights Investigator and had previously completed Level I and Level II Title IX Coordinator training and Level I Investigator training.
A professional association for school and college Title IX coordinators and administrators, ATIXA offers members a professional collaboration to explore best practices, share resources and advance the worthy goal of gender equity in education.
Appointed as the Title IX coordinator in 2014, Kittle holds a Master of Science degree in adult education and a graduate certificate in higher education administration and student affairs, both from Indiana University at Bloomington, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in language arts education from Glenville State College.
