ELKINS - Davis & Elkins College netted three top awards Thursday when The Inter-Mountain newspaper announced the winners of the 2018 People’s Choice. Selected for the Best of the Best honors were Davis & Elkins in the College category, Dr. David Turner in the College Professor category and Chef Melanie Campbell in the Chef category.
Founded in 1904, Davis & Elkins College is a small, private liberal arts college. It has been recognized numerous times by Colleges of Distinction and most recently for its expert blending of the liberal arts with professional programming in business and education. Turner serves as professor of history and chair of the Division of Humanities. He is the author of “The Centennial History,” which traces the College’s first 100 years, and writes a weekly political science column for The Inter-Mountain. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Kentucky, and a Master of Arts and Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Carolina, in addition to an honorary Master of Humane Letters from D&E.
Campbell is the Executive Chef at Graceland Restaurant. She is a Certified Executive Chef with the American Culinary Federation and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from West Virginia Wesleyan College.
