The Davis & Elkins College Theatre Department will present Murdered to Death by Peter Gordon as the spring main-stage production.
This hilarious spoof of the best of Agatha Christie traditions is set in a country manor house in the 1930s, with an assembled cast of characters guaranteed to delight — Bunting the butler, an English Colonel with the prerequisite stiff upper lip, a shady French art dealer and his moll; a bumbling police inspector, and a well meaning local sleuth who seems to attract murder wherever she goes — They’re all here and all caught up in the side-splitting antics which follow the mysterious death of the house’s owner. It soon becomes clear that the murderer isn’t finished yet, but will the murderer be unmasked before everyone else has met their doom?
Production dates are April 4-7, 2019. Rehearsals will be Monday through Thursday from 7-10 p.m.
Auditions will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 from 6:30-10 p.m. in Boiler House Theatre. Copies of the play are currently on two (2) hour reserve in Booth Library.
Those interested in auditioning should read the play and start working on their British accents. (Scottish, Irish, Cockney or Welsh work too!) One character also requires a French accent. We suggest watching a lot of Monty Python, Downton Abbey, Black Adder, Doctor Who, and any other British comedy you can get your hands on.
Any questions about the production can be directed toward Lonnie Martin or Bridget Esterhuizen.
