Special Note: Students/Families are encouraged to address the administrative check-in process in advance to expediate the exercise.

Welcoming Picnic featuring live music by Steel Groovin’
 
Take some time to have lunch and meet other incoming students and parents. Connect and engage with faculty and staff as you sit back, relax and enjoy the family picnic atmosphere. Steel drum duo Steel Groovin’ will provide the soundtrack. Steel Groovin’ was founded in the spring of 2014 and performs Calypso, Latin, pop, and rock styles of music along with traditional music of the Caribbean.
 
Special Note: Please bring a blanket and/or lawn chair for social distancing. Inclement weather will unfortunately cancel this event.

Resident Assistants Take Students to Library Bridge for
Matriculation Convocation Processional - POSTPONED
 
All new students will gather in preparation for making a processional walk, down the hill, to the Outdoor Amphitheater stage, much like the walk they will take when they don caps and gowns at Commencement. Faculty will assemble in Liberal Arts Hall for the processional.
 
Special Note: All first-year students must attend.  Please bring and wear your cap and gown from High School.  Inclement weather will unfortunately cancel this event.

Matriculation Convocation - POSTPONED
 
Matriculation Convocation is a time-honored and formal ceremony in which members of the Davis & Elkins College Board of Trustees, senior administrators, faculty and staff welcome first-year students to the Davis & Elkins College community. 
 
Special Note: Spectators please bring a blanket, lawn chair, and a camera to capture the memories.  Inclement weather will unfortunately cancel this event.  Sadly, at the conclusion of the Matriculation Convocation at 4:00 p.m., this is the time for parents and families to say goodbye.

Take a break from the day’s activities and visit Benedum Dining Room where you will enjoy a meal with your Resident Assistant.  Get to know him or her and find out more about life on campus and in the residence halls. Commuter students are encouraged to attend as well.

First-year students will begin a day of interactive learning experiences designed to encourage thought and reflection about their purpose in life. The day will begin with students meeting their first-year seminar professors.  Opening remarks will be given by President Wood.
 
Special Note: All first-year students must attend, there is a service component to the day (in the Elkins City Park), please dress appropriately.
