Commencement Weekend

109th Commencement Weekend

May 11-12, 2018

The following activities, unless otherwise indicated, are open to the entire College community including graduates, their families and guests.

 

Friday, May 11

8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.: Davis & Elkins College Bookstore Open; Madden Student Center

1:00 p.m.: Commencement Rehearsal; Harper-McNeeley Auditorium, Myles Center for the Arts; For graduates of the Class of 2018.

4:00 p.m.: Nurses’ Pinning Ceremony; Harper-McNeeley Auditorium, Myles Center for the Arts; For graduating nursing students, parents, relatives and friends.

7:00 p.m.: Baccalaureate Service and Recognition of Graduates; Harper-McNeeley Auditorium, Myles Center for the Arts; Graduating seniors lead this service of praise and worship celebrating the accomplishments of the Class of 2018. The service includes the presentation of academic hoods. No tickets are necessary for admittance to the ceremony. Speaker: Jud Hendrix, executive director, Global Human Project, Louisville, Ky.

IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING BACCALAUREATE SERVICE

Baccalaureate Service Reception; Claude King Davis Memorial Plaza (rain location: The Joni and Buck Smith Arts Forum, Myles Center for the Arts); A gathering for all graduates and their guests for refreshments and fellowship.

 

Saturday, May 12

8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.: Davis & Elkins College Satellite Bookstore Open; Myles Center for the Arts

10:00 a.m.: 109th Commencement Ceremonies; Harper-McNeeley Auditorium, Myles Center for the Arts; No tickets are necessary for admittance to the ceremony. Speaker: Rev. Kevin M. Starcher, pastor, Covenant Presbyterian Church, Boise, Id., and former Benfield-Vick Chaplain at Davis & Elkins College.

IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING COMMENCEMENT

Commencement Reception; Claude King Davis Memorial Plaza (rain location: The Joni and Buck Smith Arts Forum, Myles Center for the Arts); A fun gathering of graduates and their families for photographs and time with faculty, trustees and the entire College family.

12:00-3:00 p.m.: Commencement Buffet Luncheon; Graceland; $18.95 per person for adults; $9.50 for children ages 6-12 (plus gratuity). Children ages 5 and under are free. Reservations are requested, 304-637-1600.
