Professional Programs

The Center for Railway Tourism is committed to having a positive and long-term impact on the railway heritage, preservation and tourism industry throughout North America.

To that end, it will offer materials and programs to the industry that include:

  • An annual Sponsors Conference, open to those who are underwriting the work of the Center, the content of which is at the discretion of members.
  • An annual Benchmarking Committee Meeting, wherein underwriting members will assess the need for research in the field and determine the best methods for conducting that research.
  • An annual Dinner Train Operators Conference for those operations which offer, or contemplate offering, some aspect of rail dining as a part of their operation.
  • Various industry workshops designed to develop skills and introduce techniques that address current needs. These include such topics as writing grant proposals, engaging young people in railroad heritage activities, encouraging volunteerism, and more.
