Additional Info: 

In addition to his career in physics, Stauber has an extensive background in the United States Navy and is a retired commander. He is a veteran having served in Operation Desert Shield in 1990, Operation Desert Storm in 1991 and Operation Enduring Freedom in 2001. He was a U.S. Navy Olmstead Scholar nominee in 1987, and received the Navy Achievement Medal, Navy Commendation Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal, in addition to unit, theatre and expeditionary service awards. He also was the first in his year group to be promoted to commander. During his time in the U.S. Navy, Stauber completed Nuclear Power School, Nuclear Prototype School, Submarine Basic Officer Course, Prospective Nuclear Engineer Officer School and Intelligence Office Basic Course. He has also earned Space Material Certification through the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
