What I Find Rewarding About D&E:

Working with faculty, staff, students and families as well as prospective students and their families is most rewarding to me. I enjoy having the ability to provide help and guidance to all as needed and to share my passion for the College. The opportunity to assist students when they are in need of answers and resolution to issues they find troubling or unresolved is an area that I’ve found quite rewarding.

Serving as a host family for international students is extremely rewarding. Providing them with the security of a local family who supports and encourages them is very gratifying as they become a significant part of our family. As parents, my husband and I hope someone half way around the world would do the same for our child. I find the parents of these students have a sense of calm when they realize we are here for their child and support the student in the absence of their parent.

My role as Veterans Liaison Officer and School Certifying Official has been and continues to be the highlight of my experience at D&E. Serving those who have served our country as they return to civilian life or to the classroom makes me very proud! I'm pleased to give back to these men and women and appreciate their service and their commitment.

Experience: 

Debbie has more than 40 years of experience including working with the federal government, various federal agencies and military medical facilities, county boards of education, the banking industry, higher education, veterans organizations and state and federal veterans agencies, and church associations.

This work experience permitted her to gain knowledge on government policy and procedure; academic, clerical and educational support; the banking industry as a customer service representative; and FERPA, DATATEL, room assignments and class scheduling. She is also experienced as a Veterans Affairs Certifying Official and retention team member.

Training: 

Debbie has attended numerous workshops and seminars including Colleague/ICE Consortium, Charleston, W.Va.; Veterans (national and state) workshops and seminars; Huntington Bank, Clarksburg, W.Va.; Carroll County Public Schools, Westminster, Md.; National Cryptologic School, Fort Meade, Md.; and private workshops and seminars. She also has participated in many training opportunities including banking; communication skills; the Internet; Microsoft Word; Microsoft Excel; safety in the workplace; marketing; public relations; sales; business; project management; human resources; customer service; team leadership; briefing skills; managerial techniques; correspondence; time management; mechanics of maintaining/stamping classified documents; correspondence course; basic protocol; effective listening/advanced effective listening; Executive Secretary Seminar; and supervisory training.
