Impact on Students

Senators Forever

Senators ForeverThe Senators Forever Program was created with the goal of preparing our students to be engaged alumni and to raise awareness about the role philanthropy plays at D&E. To help accomplish our goals, a week long program titled Senators Forever Week was launched. Through a series of posters and other printed materials Senators Forever Week gives students a close-up look at how their educational experience is funded, helps them understand how they are personally benefiting from the generosity of others and inspires them to think about how they might help future generations of students. In addition, a thank-a-thon event gives students the opportunity to personally show appreciation to donors by writing thank you notes.

Phone-A-Thon

D&E’s Phone-A-Thon is conducted twice a year by student delegates who reach out, reconnect and inform our alumni and friends. Phone-A-Thon is an integral part of the overall success of The D&E Fund. Alumni and friends of D&E have the opportunity to speak with students who love to share their personal stories and learn about the experiences of others while asking for support of The D&E Fund.

If you receive a call please take a moment talk with our delegates to share stories from your time as a student and to learn about D&E from a current student’s perspective. Also keep in mind being a Phone-A-Thon delegate helps students develop invaluable interpersonal skills that will serve them well along their career path.

Even in an era of online communication alumni continue to respond favorably to calls from delegates and demonstrate their commitment to supporting D&E through giving to The D&E Fund. If you have any questions about Phone-A-Thon or are a student interested in joining our team, please contact Director of Alumni Engagement and Support Wendy Morgan at 304-637-1341 or email.

Messages of Appreciation

"I’m a freshman. I don’t have a major yet, but I am studying to be a librarian. I want to thank you very much for donating to the college because without your help I wouldn’t have been able to come here and study. You’ve not only helped me with my academics but also helped many other students around campus. I am grateful for your generosity and I hope that your kindness will continue to inspire me to do my very best. Thank you."

"I am a senior elementary education major. I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for your contributions. D&E is my home away from my home in New Jersey. Thank you for making it a wonderful place to be."

"I am a 1st year nursing student. I plan on graduating May 2013 as an RN. I just wanted to personally thank you for your generous donation. Your support is greatly appreciated. It’s exciting to know you care about my education!"

"I’m a sophomore majoring in management. I am also from a low-income family, top ten of my high school class, and a Highlands Scholar. If not for the generous donations to supplement my academic scholarships, I wouldn’t be able to attend D&E. For this reason I would like to send my sincere gratitude for making my educational dreams possible!"
