Endowment Gifts

A gift to endowment is an investment in Davis & Elkins College’s future—and a great source of strength to the generations of students who will benefit. Gifts to endowment are invested, and the annual income used to support the mission of the College.

Unrestricted Gift

An unrestricted gift to the endowment enables the President and the Board of Trustees to use the annual income where it is needed most.

Endowed Scholarship

An endowed scholarship provides annual scholarships for students selected according to guidelines established by the donors. Scholarship recipients are selected by the Director of Financial Planning. Each year the College reports to donors about the scholarship recipients and invites donors and scholarship recipients to a Scholarship Recognition Luncheon. Endowed Library Fund

An endowed library fund is used to purchase books, periodical subscriptions, and information technology to enhance the resources of the Booth Library. Resources are selected by the Director of the Library in accordance with the wishes of the donor. Each year the College reports to donors on activities and new resources available in the library. Endowed Lecture Series or Academic Enrichment Fund

An endowed lecture series or academic enrichment fund is used to enrich an existing academic program or to fund an annual lecture series according to guidelines established by the donor. Guidelines for the fund are developed in consultation with the President and the Vice President for Academic Affairs. Each year the College reports to the donors on the use of the fund and invites them to any events supported by the fund. Endowed Chair

An endowed chair is a permanent named fund that provides a dependable source of income for academic program support in the area designated by the donor. Guidelines for administration of the chair are developed in consultation with the President and the Vice President for Academic Affairs and are subject to approval by the Board of Trustees. Each year the College reports to the donor on the use of the fund. Davis & Elkins College currently has endowed chairs honoring its most distinguished figures. In addition, the Benfield-Vick Chaplaincy provides funding for the College’s programs in religious life. The minimum gift to establish an endowed chair is $1,000,000.
