Outdoor Recreation
Another weekend on campus
OR
an adventure in the outdoors?
If you are interested in outdoor recreation, please consider joining the Outdoor Adventure Program. The D&E Outdoor Adventure Program is part of Student Life and provides off-campus outdoor recreation opportunities for students. So far, activities have included hiking, horseback riding, whitewater rafting, bicycling, alpine skiing, snowboarding, nordic skiing, snowshoeing, and collaborating on three environmental service projects. Future offerings will include backpacking, mountain biking, rock climbing, canoeing, and kayaking. The mission of the program is to facilitate student growth by providing opportunities for lifelong health and wellness, meaningful social connections, experiential learning, interaction with nature, and environmental stewardship.
There are no membership fees or other obligations to join. Students do not have to have outdoor skills or previous experience to join; everyone is welcome. Program members will be eligible to suggest activities and dates for the schedule each semester. Members will also be on an email contact list to find out about activities, events, meetings, updates, and other outdoor recreation opportunities.
Members do not have to participate in every club activity. Members can pick activities that fit their interests, schedule, and budget. Every effort will be made to keep activities affordable, and some will be free. Student Assembly helps out a lot by funding half of the trip costs so students only have to pay the other half.
