Appointments:
Please call to schedule an appointment. If needed, leave a message and your call will be returned promptly to schedule an appointment. You may also email to schedule an appointment; however, please note that email is not fully confidential.
For Mental Health Emergencies or Crises After Hours:
Contact Appalachian Community Health Center at 304-636-3232; staff should be available 24/7. You may also call Davis Memorial Hospital Emergency Room at 304-636-3300 or Women’s Aid In Crisis at 304-636-8433.
Referrals: May be made by faculty, staff and students if there are concerns about a student. Please call or email with your concern and we will attempt to make contact with the student to offer support. Please note that unless the student consents we will not be able to share information about the student with the person making the referral.
Fees: Counseling is free to D&E students. Information and referral sessions are available for faculty and staff.
Personality and Career Assessments are free to D&E students and scheduled through the Counseling & Wellness Center.
Psychological/Academic Evaluations may be arranged for a fee, billed to insurance or student accounts. Referrals for these evaluations may be made through the Naylor Learning Center.
Confidentiality:
The content of your meetings will be kept confidential. Information you share will not be given to individuals who are not on the professional staff without your knowledge and written permission. There are a few exceptions due to ethical and legal requirements such as imminent harm to you or someone else including child abuse or elder abuse and certain legal situations which require disclosure. These limitations will be discussed at your first appointment.

The alcohol eCheckUpToGo is an interactive survey that allows students to enter information about drinking patterns and receive feedback. The self-guided survey takes about 6-7 minutes to complete and requires no face-to-face contact with counselors/administrators.
