Department Philosophy

The Program of Religion and Philosophy offers two options for the interested major as well as an array of courses in both disciplines. The Program is designed to:

• introduce the student to basic religious and philosophical concepts, problems, and terminology,
• help the student gain an accurate knowledge of and appreciation for the Bible,
• develop in the student a sense for the history and development of ideas in the Western and non-Western tradition,
• enable the student to grapple with contemporary value issues, and
• introduce the student to major developments in the Western religious tradition, both historical and contemporary.
