Davis & Elkins College in Elkins, West Virginia invites applications for a full-time faculty position in the field of Criminology to lead a program with growing enrollment beginning in the fall 2012 semester. Faculty rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

 

Responsibilities include teaching a variety of courses in Criminology; coordinating and leading the Criminology program; advising students; and engaging in professional development activities and such other duties as may be requested.

 

The ideal candidate will:

  • possess a terminal degree in Criminology, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
  • be attracted to the challenge of leading a program with growing student enrollments.
  • have practical experience working in the field of criminal justice.
  • demonstrate evidence of successful college-level teaching.
  • possess good communication skills.
  • be able to work collegially with other higher education professionals.
  • be interested in and capable of forming professional relationships with individuals working in the criminal justice field in Elkins, WV and the surrounding region.

  • Possess a minimum of two years teaching experience at the post-secondary level.
  • Possess excellent communication skills.
  • Be able to teach Physical Chemistry and other courses based on applicant’s credentials  (e.g. Inorganic Chemistry and Bio-Chemistry).

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Teaching introductory science courses to non-science majors as necessary, and as teaching commitments allow.
  • Involving students in research.
  • Student advising and mentoring.
  • Curriculum development.

  • Ongoing professional development.
