Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Education
Davis & Elkins College is proud to have the only accredited Theatre Education Degree in the State of West Virginia. This program is geared toward training secondary school theatre teachers. With new education standards, many states now require a specialization to teach a specific subject. This program has been set up to meet those needs.

The requirements for a B.A. major in Theatre Education consist of 53-54 hours as follows:

- Theatre Arts 213 - Stage Lighting
- Theatre Arts 215 - Stage Costume
- Theatre Arts 223 - Stagecraft Laboratory
- Theatre Arts 232 - Movement for the Theatre
- Theatre Arts 304 - Directing I
- Theatre Arts 319 - Creative Dramatics
- Theatre Arts 320 - Playwriting
- Communication 110 - Survey of Mass Media
- Music 100 - Music Fundamentals
Three hours chosen from:
- Theatre Arts 220 - Acting Laboratory
- Theatre Arts 221 - Costume Laboratory
- Theatre Arts 222 - Lighting Laboratory
- Theatre Arts 223 - Stagecraft Laboratory
- Theatre Arts 224 - Stage Management Laboratory

- English 280 - Classical Drama

- English 316 - Shakespeare
An additional requirement is the successful direction and design of an approved one-act play in the junior or senior year. Theatre Education students must complete a minor in Education.
